Metadata

What is metadata?  Quite simply, metadata is data about the structure and purpose of a dataset (such as a GIS data layer).

Metadata: The LINK-GIS metadata summarizes basic information about our geospatial and mapping data, which can make finding and working with our data easier. For example, author, update frequency, bounding coordinates, use disclaimers, date modified and file size are examples of very basic information included in our metadata.  LINK-GIS uses the FGDC CSDGM Metadata template to store and publish its’ metadata information.

Use the search below to explore and learn more about LINK-GIS data offerings. Or click on any of the layers in the list on the right (or below if viewing on a mobile device), to view the metadata for the chosen layer.
