LINK-GIS Classic Map Viewer Retiring June 30, 2026
June 2026
After eleven years and over 1.6 million visits, the LINK-GIS Classic Map Viewer will be retired on June 30, 2026. First launched in 2015, it has been a dependable public mapping resource for our community. The Map Viewer Experience has been available publicly for over a year, and will now serve as the primary map viewer for LINK-GIS — the look and feel will be similar, but with expanded and enhanced productivity tools. New 2024 Planimetric Data Updates – Buildings, Edge-of-Pavement, and more!
October 2025
LINK-GIS has received the final deliverable of new planimetric data from NV5 (contracted vendor). Planimetric features are features on the ground visible in aerial photography and include building footprints, edge-of-pavement, water features (such as lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams), and other pervious features such as patios, and recreation facilities. Planimetric data is a critical foundational layer of a GIS system, and allows for detailed mapping, analysis, and modeling. As of the newest planimetric delivery, there are 82,868 building footprints in Kenton County, and 52,926 in Campbell County.

New 2024 Lidar!
September 2025
LINK-GIS has just received new 2024 LiDAR. Classified LiDAR provides highly accurate three-dimensional information about the earth’s surface, including ground, buildings, vegetation, and other surface features. This dataset serves as a critical foundation for many GIS applications and supports detailed elevation modeling, flood analysis, land development decisions, infrastructure planning, and emergency management projects across our member communities. LINK-GIS also has new contour and topo lines because they are derived from LiDAR data.

New 2025 Aerial and Oblique Photos!
May 2025
LINK-GIS has just received new 2025 aerial and oblique photography on behalf of our consortium members. The resolution of this photography is 2″ pixels. The oblique photography offers a perspective that is more akin to a human’s view of a landscape, showing the sides of objects and buildings, which is different from the top-down perspective of vertical aerial photography. The 2025 vertical aerial photography is now available to view on the linkgis.org map viewers!
New 2024 Aerial Photos!
April 2025
LINK-GIS has just received new 2024 aerial photography on behalf of our consortium members. The resolution of this photography is 3″ pixels. This new photography is traditional orthophotography – which removes the effects of tilt and relief and provides an accurate representation of the location of features in the photos.
