After the bare earth classification is complete on all data a Terra Scan batch process is used to create a 25 foot point grid of the ground class. Once all the grids are created breakline cleanup is performed on every tile. Breakline cleanup entails classifying any ground points that fall within a tolerance of the collected DTM features to either the water or road class, depending on the DTM feature type. Removing the ground points around the DTM features ensures that the contours follow the breaklines. When all tiles have gone through breakline cleanup the data is ready for contour generation. Batch processes in Terra Modeler create contour files for a selected area. Contour generation starts by a surface model being created for a tile using the ground class of the lattice along with overlapping points from the neighboring tiles. Then the DTM data is referenced for each tile and added to the surface model. When the complete surface model is created a contour file is generated and Terra Modeler moves on to the next selected tile and repeats the process. Every contour is reviewed to ensure that it provides an accurate representation of the ground. This includes contour match between tiles, removal of LIDAR points, and corrections to breaklines. Each tile is visually checked referencing both the LIDAR and DTM data. If a problem is found then corrections are made and the contours are generated again.
